Translucent concrete
Saw this in city of sound which I can highly recommend. This translucent concrete sounds an amazing material and so counterintuitive- think about it, a structural material that you can see through! I’d love to see some in real life. Optic article . Andreas bittis . Liquid stone exhibition

Wood studio
In Helsinki Korkeasaari zoo there is a really beautiful viewing tower by Ville Hara. It was written up in the arcspace, and when I went there last I took a few photos. I love it because it creates a sense of place from a view and is a marker for the zoo although it is really [...]
Flickr city
Chris Heathcote in his anti-mega blog has a really interesting application combining google maps & Flickr. He’s mapped it to New York, San Fransisco, London, Copenhagen, and Helsinki so far. I love this idea and it extends the useability of both really well. Its great fun but also I can imagine some very serious uses [...]
Pinc House
The Pinchouse(s) is not really a flatpack house but a predesigned and partly premade set of different house designs, a template house I guess. None of these are twee and just a short look through the website shows they embody high design principals. I am particularly interested by the blackhouse update to the viking longhouse [...]

Dutchtub
My friend Jurgen emailed me the other day about a great new dutch product which I think would just about fit in our back garden. He was sitting on a roof terrace bar on the thirteenth floor which had some installed in central Amsterdam. Brings back memories of our two years we lived there.
