RIP Palast der Republik
RIP Palast der Republik. A strange and unwanted temple to communism has been demolished. There is a great short film which will tell you why the Palast der Republik and its demolition is important and divides opinion so strongly.
21st Century Atlas of World Architecture
The Phaidon Atlas of 21st Century Architecture is out for Christmas (isn’t it about 92years early?). The Times does a nice little review of this coffee table bound volume. Job Cuts
Construction company Skanska to cut 600 jobs in Finland, YIT is doing the same. I sense the ground about to disappear below our feet as the construction industry approaches a state of coma. The signs are not good.

Sundsvall Art Centre

Locating Helsinki
The serendipity of the web lead me to Locating Helsinki, an excellent blog that documents urban Helsinki in all its quirks and small wonders. My favoutrite so far is the rather roughly built ski jump that sits on a hillside between two big developments.
