Chinese Mortar

How do you make Mortar the traditional way in China? Just add Rice Soup.

“Analytical study shows that the ancient masonry mortar is a kind of special organic-inorganic composite material,” Zhang said. “The inorganic component is calcium carbonate, and the organic component is amylopectin, which comes from the sticky rice soup added to the mortar.”

Hey Lewis, do you have another world for “mortar”? I’m dying to know… XD (Being very difficult to track the meaning for me).

Another word for mortar would be cement I guess, it’s the binding agent between brickwork or blockwork, does that help, what’s your native language Francisco?

I’ve heard the Great Wall was originally made of rice and bricks. Indeed Rice was largely used in ancient construction. Also I still remember my grandma even used rice as glue for binding paper when I was little.
