Helsinki Infoshare

Helsinki region now has a website Helsinki Region Infoshare which is going to be a hub for publishing information about the city region over the next few years until I guess the cities and regions take this job over for themselves.  Statistical information of all kind will be published here , so it should be a goldmine going forward for all kinds of uses.  This is a great step forward and hopefully it is going to be more usable than the current database for Helsinki  (aluesarjat). Helsinki has also started to publish a statistical yearbook (pdf & excel / website).

The next step forward will be how to use this information to assist in design, planning and infrastructure of the city. This goes from empowering better governance right down to how individual homes can more efficiently use power grids for example. Its really important for the already mountain of data to be able to be found and then processed in a single place. Maybe this will be it.
